FC Barcelona wants to free up space on the payroll and that could just be at the expense of Luuk de Jong. The striker, who was brought to Camp Nou on the intercession of Ronald Koeman, sees his salary transferred by the Catalans.
This was agreed in the rental deal with Sevilla, which was completed on the very last day of the summer transfer market. However, De Jong’s Catalan period threatens to come to a quick end, because Diario SPORT knows that space must be made in Barça’s salary house to meet the wishes of new trainer Xavi.
Sending De Jong away is one of the options, as the new coach has already indicated that he will not use the services of the tall striker. By terminating the rental deal with Sevilla early, room can be made for possible new players. Barca could spend around €20 million.
