The Liffré market continues to rise from the ground. Started in March 2021, work on the future sports hall is continuing at a good pace. “Despite the shortage of materials, we are in the right timing”, assures Thierry Méchineau, project manager of the architectural firm GPAA (Gaelle Peneau architecte associés) in Nantes, which is in charge of this project.

It should therefore be delivered by March 2023.

Beginning of the frame

The central part is already built. The structural work began on Tuesday, November 23 and will last two months. Then the blanket will be laid.

The first panels of the facade will be installed in the fall of 2022. A prototype of the cladding was also presented during the site visit on Friday, November 19.

Geometry and play of light

The latter, in composite, will have a fairly reflective finish, which will cause play of crystals. “Depending on the light, we won’t see the same thing. It will be a living product, ”explains the architect.

Composed of diamonds, triangles and trapezoids, the facade will also benefit from a glazed frame. “All this very sensitive and refined graphics will give the whole design of this speaker. “

5 large spaces

As a reminder, the sports hall will be structured around five large spaces. A space dedicated to team sports (basketball, handball, volleyball, badminton and rollerblading) which will also include a climbing wall 36 meters long and 12 meters high and two speed tracks. Bleachers will accommodate 800 spectators.

In the upper part of this stand, a space called a “promenade” will serve as an interface between the sports hall and the space for the practice of opposition sports. This will consist of a room dedicated to judo, karate and aikido and another room dedicated exclusively to boxing. On the ground floor, there is also a space for table tennis.

The last space concerns the common premises which includes changing rooms, toilets, meeting and conviviality rooms, as well as all technical and circulation rooms.

Regional or national competitions

The total amount of work is around € 8 million excluding tax. This complex will make it possible in particular to increase the availability of slots for school and association practices. But also to allow the organization of competitions at regional level (climbing, judo, team sports) or national (table tennis).
