Badminton: Neuchâtelois on the box in Luxembourg

Luxembourg Youngsters International 2021 smiled on the Neuchâtel juniors. Several badists from BC La Chaux-de-Fonds and BC Neuchâtel made the trip to the Grand Duchy. Some played their first international competition there.

The Neuchâtelois have signed several convincing results. Eléonore Engel (BC Neuchâtel) won in women’s doubles with her German partner Anja Strausak in the under-17s. In this same age category, Elia Jeanfavre (BC La Chaux-de-Fonds) finished second in both women’s singles and doubles.

The young Sofia Uvarova (13) also shone. The badiste from BC Neuchâtel reached the final in women’s singles and doubles in the under-15s. Nicolas Briancourt (BC Neuchâtel, M15) was for his part adorned with bronze in men’s doubles. / FCH

Ice hockey: the NHA raises the bar before returning to the European Cup

The women hockey players of the Neuchâtel Hockey Academy (NHA) experienced a new weekend full of women’s LNA. On Saturday, the Neuchâteloises lost to Lugano (4-1) after a match they played to the end. The NHA goal was scored by Amélie Jobin (on assist from Wood Shelby), while the Ticino women scored twice in the empty cage in the final minutes.

Sunday, during a capital match for the play-off race, the NHA signed a convincing victory with a shutout of its goalkeeper Nina Paiva (5-0). Carolie Larose, Marie-Pierre Pélissou, Cindy Joray, Mariko Dale and Ophélie Ryser scored the Neuchâtel goals. With this victory, the Swallows are fifth in the LNA women with 18 points in 13 matches, one point behind Thurgau (one more match) which occupies the last qualifying place for the playoffs.

After these days of the championship, the NHA will return to the European Cup (the Supercup) this Saturday, November 13. At 7 p.m. at the coastal rinks, they will welcome the Kazakhes of Almaty. Entrance will be free. /JCE Comm


Fencing: podiums for female fencers in Neuchâtel

The young female fencers in Neuchâtel stood out this weekend on the European circuit. In Heidenheim (Germany), Vanie Gogniat finished third in the individual women’s épée. The young Vaudruzienne from the Biel club did even better with her teammates from the Swiss team, including Chaux-de-Fonnière Pauline Heubi. They took second place in this collective event.

Also worth noting is Pauline Brunner’s good fifth place in M23 at Colmar (France). The 26-year-old La Chaux-de-Fonnière is relaunching itself in perspective of the first round of the World Cup in Tallin (Estonia) from 20 to 21 November. /JCE Comm


Bowling: national title and podium for BC La Chaux-de-Fonds

The Bowling club of La Chaux-de-Fonds (BCC) experienced a historic first: one of its members obtained a national title. This is Kemajl Fetahi, who was crowned in category C during the final in Geneva (La Praille), with a total of 3198 points after 17 games. In category B, his teammate Daniel Favre-Bulle took second place with a total of 3307 points in 17 games. /JCE Comm


Street-hockey: river victory for CHS La Chaux-de-Fonds in the Cup

This Sunday, October 31, the CHS La Chaux-de-Fonds (SHCC) celebrated a river victory in the Swiss Cup. In the round of 16, against Berner Oberland (2nd league), the Chaux-de-Fonniers won 22-2 (5-0 7-0 10-2). SHCC player-coach Gregory Ferrington has scored five goals on his own.

A little earlier in the day, the second team of the SHCC had also obtained its qualification by beating Aegerten-Brügg (13-5). SHCC’s next LNA game will take place away from Oberwil Rebells in Zug on Sunday 7 November at 2 p.m. /JCE Comm
