“Michael Jordan ruined basketball”

Scottie Pippen obviously talked a lot about Michael Jordan in his book. In recent weeks, extracts from the Unguarded book have filtered through the press. And they almost all have one thing in common: they aim to denigrate His Airness.

A way for the former Chicago Bulls player to settle scores with his ex-teammate. And to ensure a real buzz around the release of his book. In a new passage, Pippen poked MJ again using notably LeBron James.

“I could go so far as to say that Mike ruined basketball. In the 80s, on the playing fields, everyone was moving the ball around, passing the ball to help the team. It stopped. then in the 90s.

The kids wanted to be ‘like Mike’. Well, Mike didn’t want to pass, he didn’t want to move around to rebound, or defend against the top player. So he wanted everything to be done for him.

That’s why I always thought LeBron James was the best player this game has ever known – he does it all and is what the game is all about, ”said Scottie Pippen.

We knew that Pippen had badly lived the documentary The Last Dance. He had regretted the version told to the glory of Jordan. And obviously, to rebalance things, he therefore decided to turn it on throughout his book.
