Raquetist from Oaxaca makes his debut at the International Tennis Federation

The Oaxacan racquet player, originally from Huajuapan de León, José Mario Márquez, participated in his first professional tournament of the International Tennis Federation (ITF), in the M15 Guatemala Open 2021, future type, they reported with enthusiasm their relatives.

In qualifying, José Mario opened against Frenchman Pierre Gimla, whom he defeated in two sets 6-0, 6-0 while in his next match he defeated American Ian Turner, in a couple of chapters, to They are 6-1 and 6-2.

With this he advanced to the main draw of this ITF men’s tennis world tour contest, where he started with Jody Maginley, from Barbados, as a rival, before whom he was beaten in pairs of sets, by partial 6-3 and 6-1.

The tournament was held at the facilities of the Juan José Hermosilla Complex, where racquet players from different parts of the world and the most outstanding players from Guatemala play, a country that has celebrated hosting this event.

The first seeded was Ricardo Rodríguez, from Venezuela, who smoothly advanced to the second round by defeating Guatemalan Kriss Hernández at the rate of 6-1 and 6-1. The second seed was the Chilean Michel Vernier.

He also started the doubles activity of this contest in Guatemala but in this modality the Oaxacan did not compete.

IN J4 GUATEMALA

In previous days, José Mario Márquez competed in the Ficohsa J4 Guatemala Cup, where he also advanced to the main draw.

There, in qualifying, in his first match he beat Guatemalan Cristian Pemueller in two sets, by partial 6-4 and 6-3, then he played his second match against Argentine Nikos Lehmann, before whom he fell in two sets, 6-1 and 6-0.

But this triumph allowed him to get into the main draw of the contest that was part of the world youth tennis tour, and already installed in that phase he had the Chilean Matías Rojas as the first opponent, before whom he succumbed by partial 6-0, 6 -0.
