Disappointed day for Lukaku and Chelsea: Red Devil incurs corona infection, Blues lose ground on Man City and Liverpool | Foreign Football

Premier LeagueAnother blow to Romelu Lukaku. The Chelsea striker tested positive for the corona virus and was therefore absent for the match against Everton. Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell and Hudson-Odoi also tested positive. To make matters worse, Chelsea did not get further than a draw on their own field. Man City and Liverpool are laughing their asses off.

Lukaku had only just recovered from an ankle injury sustained during the Champions League match against Malmö on October 20. On November 28, he made his comeback on the field in the top match against Manchester United, but since then it has only remained for ‘Big Rom’ in substitutions. Whether he would have appeared at kick-off tonight, we will of course never know. Due to the corona infection and the associated quarantine, Lukaku is again sidelined for at least ten days – back to square one.

Without Lukaku, Werner, Chilwell and Hudson-Odoi, Chelsea found Everton a tough nut to crack. Twenty minutes before the end, Mount seemed to put the home team on the way to victory, but a few minutes later Brantwaithe equalized. 1-1 was also the final score, Chelsea sees Man City – who already won on Tuesday – and Liverpool – which defeated Newcastle 3-1 tonight – so two points.

Premier League moans under corona

Covid-19 has gripped the Premier League. Earlier today, Leicester-Tottenham were canceled due to too many positive cases at Leicester – where Youri Tielemans and Timothy Castagne are on the payroll. Manchester United-Brighton is canceled on Saturday due to a corona outbreak at United. And their game against Brentford was also postponed on Tuesday. The number of postponed PL matches is now at five.

At Manchester City, Kevin De Bruyne has just recovered from a Covid infection – or almost completely. De Bruyne scored twice against Leeds on Tuesday, but said afterwards that he is not quite feeling the way he used to.
