He dreamed of a great football career, but now Faiq Bolkiah (23) is without a club.
The richest footballer in the world (estimated fortune around 15 billion euros) is available for free. His club CS Maritimo dissolved the contract with the offensive player. The association announced: “We thank Faiq Bolkiah for his commitment and wish him all the best, both professionally and privately.”
The nephew of the Sheikh of Brunei was born in Los Angeles and first hit the headlines when he was 11 years old, Southhampton FC signed him.

The youth department of the Premier League club moved on to the Chelsea youth team in 2013 and from there to Leicester in 2016, where he signed a professional contract for three years a year later, but did not play a game for the Foxes.
Then in September 2020 he switched to Portugal club CS Maritimo in Madeira, where he would have had a contract until the end of the season. After just one year, however, he was pushed back to the B team and the contract has now been terminated.
200,000 euros is the market value of the former Brunei national player. Whether he will try to gain a foothold in professional football or hang up his shoes is an open question.
So far, Bolkiah has not commented on how to proceed. His former teammates describe him as reserved and modest in the dressing room, even if he leads a luxury life in his private life.
Even if the soccer dream should be shattered, we will definitely hear more from Faiq Bolkiah in the future …
