Ligue 1: Saint-Etienne formalizes the departure of Puel and waits for Dupraz

AS Saint-Etienne, the red lantern of Ligue 1, formalized on Tuesday the departure of Claude Puel (60), the former coach and general manager of the Greens, paving the way for the appointment of a successor. The latter will be, unsurprisingly, Pascal Dupraz, free since his dismissal last March from the Stade Malherbe de Caen (Ligue 2).

The former coach of LOSC, OL and Nice was laid off on December 5 after the rout inflicted at home by Stade Rennais (0-5), leaving the team in last place in the standings. A place that she still occupies after the defeat (0-2) suffered last Saturday in Reims in a very important match for the maintenance. Julien Sablé, the former assistant to Puel, occupied the place on the bench by interim. According to L’Equipe, an amicable agreement should be found for the last seven months of Puel’s contract, which will cost the Forézien club between 1.5 and 1.8 million euros.

ASSE is now waiting for Pascal Dupraz. The former coach of Evian-Thonon-Gaillard, Toulouse, and Caen (59), arrived late in the morning in Lyon by train where he was greeted by managers from Saint-Etienne. Since then, he has chained the presentation meetings at Etrat, the administrative, training and training center of the club. His signature is hoped for before the 32nd Coupe de France match on Sunday among fans of Lyon-La Duchère (N2). ASSE also proceeded, on December 6, to the appointment of its ex-captain Loïc Perrin as sports coordinator.
