Two days before their round of 16 against Cameroon, 12 Comoros players and staff, including the two available goalkeepers, tested positive for Covid-19 on Saturday.

The Comoros team decimated by the Covid-19: twelve players and members of the management have tested positive for Covid-19, including the only two goalkeepers available for the selection, which is due to play on Monday in the round of 16 of the African Cup of Nations against the Cameroonian host, announced on Saturday January 22, the federation.

“The ‘Cœlacanthes’ affected by the Covid with 12 positive cases, among them, coach Amir Abdou, our only two goalkeepers: Moyadh Ousseini and Ali Ahamada”, tweeted the federation two days before a historic meeting for the archipelago. , qualified for the round of 16 for his first participation in the premier competition of African football.

In a video posted on the account, general manager El-Hadad Hamidi also named five outfield players, midfielders Nakibou Aboubakari, Yacine Bourhane, striker Mohamed M’Changama, and defenders Kassim Abdallah and Alexis Souahy.


The third goalkeeper in the Comoros group, Salim Ben Boina, is injured, the federation said. Which leaves the team completely devoid of this crucial position.
