Sofia Costoulas is the 8th seed in Melbourne. In the quarterfinals, our compatriot was a size too big for Russian Diana Shnaider (ITF-3).

Last week Costoulas was also too strong for Shnaider at the junior tournament in Traralgon.
It is the first time for 16-year-old Costoulas that she is in the semifinals of a grand slam tournament.
For a place in the final she will compete against home player Charlotte Kempenaers-Pocz (ITF-220).
