This week, the CIES Football Observatory focused on players born in 2002 or later in non-big-5 leagues who are set to become the star players of tomorrow. And among these players, five Belgians.
5-6% is the number revealed in the CIES weekly newsletter this week. Either the number of Belgians or Belgian players who were born in 2002 or later and active in 31 European leagues outside the big-5 league credited with the Performance Index InStat The highest.
The latter takes into account the productivity of footballers according to the position occupied, as well as the general level of the matches played. Players must also play at least 450 minutes of play in the league, season 2021 or 2021/22 (until 01/26).
The Belgian players or present in the Belgian championship are the following: Maarten Vandervoordt (Belgian, Genk), Ameen Al-Dahhil (Belgium – Iraq, Standard), Stelios Andreou (Cyprus, Charleroi), Mandela Keita (Belgium – Guinea, Leuven), Anouar Ait El Hadj (Belgium – Morocco, Anderlecht) and Noah Mbamba (Belgium, FC Brugge).
