KOMPAS.com – Indonesian national team coach Shin Tae-yong feels cheated and confused after his players were confirmed positive for Covid-19.
The Indonesian national team played the second test match against Timor Leste at the Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium, Gianyar, Bali, Sunday (30/1/2022), bringing only a total of 16 players.
After the match, Shin Tae-yong revealed that 8 Garuda players were positive for Covid-19.
“Actually, we carry out PCR tests every day and try to be stricter than before until there are eight players who are positive and cannot participate in the match,” said Shin Tae-yong.

The South Korean coach was confused and missed. Because, so far, he feels that his team always adheres to health protocols when undergoing training camps.
“Actually, we adhere to health protocols, but with this incident, I myself was confused,” said Shin Tae-yong.
However, the Indonesian national team was still able to win over Timor Leste even though some of its players were absent due to Covid-19.
The Garuda squad won 3-0 thanks to goals from Terens Puhiri, Ramai Rumakiek, and Ricky Kambuaya.
This is Indonesia’s second victory over Timor Leste in a test match which is included in the FIFA Matchday agenda.

Previously, Indonesia also won 4-1 in the first match which took place last Thursday.
At that time, Ricky Kambuaya opened the tap for Indonesia’s goal, before Pratama Arhan brought Merah Putih to a 2-1 lead.
The other two Indonesian goals were created thanks to own goals from Timor Leste players, Gergino Jose Alexandro Mendonca da Silva and Filomeno.
These two victories make Indonesia now ranked 160th in FIFA with a collection of 1001.61 points. Indonesia displaces Singapore, which is now down one step to position 161 (1000.78 points).
