Geo parks arise as an idea of UNESCO, due to the need to protect geological resources, this modality includes hiking, and geo tourism as a way to show nature and instill its care and protection.

The Sierra de Cubitas has unique elements of geography, with six caves declared national heritage with the only pictographs of agricultural pottery groups that make it special, for these reasons it is of vital importance to create a route that shows the historical and native beauties of the Cuban territory.

The Geopark, in the red lands, will promote the integration of man with the earth, promote its care and generate sources of employment; it is also an attraction for tourists and their views of the diverse flora and fauna of Cubitas.

This important proposal will allow to conserve the historical, geographical and natural resources of the area, which will remain as a legacy of Núñez Jiménez who always carried the Sierra de Cubitas in his heart.
