► Angelique Kerber comes from the far north. She was born in Bremen as the daughter of a German (Beate) and a Pole (Slawek). She has always remained true to her Polish roots and moved to Puszczykowo at the age of 24, where she still lives today.

Sporting career

► After Angelique Kerber turned professional at the age of just 15, she slowly climbed the world rankings. She hit the top 100 at 19, then hit the top 50 at 23, which she hasn’t left since 2010.

► In 2012 she moved to Puszczykowo, where she has been training at her grandfather’s training ground ever since. In the same year she won her first two indoor tournaments in Copenhagen and Paris. That was her big break.
