A renowned basketball club donated $100,000 for volunteer firefighters

A renowned basketball club in the province of Corrientes made a donation of 100,000 pesos for a volunteer fire station, as part of a fire crisis that is plaguing the province.

This is the Communications team of the town of Mercedes. Referents from the institution approached the city’s fire department to deliver an aid of 100,000 pesos.

The President of Communications, Mario Fernández, and the Treasurer, Danilo Fernández, were present. Members of the Board of Directors and staff of the Active Corps of the Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Mercedes were present on behalf of the Association.

The President of the aurinegra entity, pointed out “it is the least we can do from the club, because as everyone knows the Firefighters are working full time, without days off with the fires that are taking place throughout the province and in Mercedes as well. It is a way of collaborating so that they buy what they need, supplies, fuel, among others.”

In addition to cash, the club collaborated with merchandise such as yerba mate, sugar and milk “so that they have breakfast,” Fernández explained.

“Today we had the opportunity to help the Fire Department, which, as everyone knows, is an institution that works ad honorem,” he concluded.

Ramón Omar Pérez, the President of the Firefighters Association, thanked the help received. “What we received is extremely important, today we have many exits due to the situation we are in, therefore we have to do maintenance on each of the things that wear out and deteriorate,” he considered.

“The members of the active body are constantly alert, we have a group of very young boys who are up to the task,” he concluded.
