This Saturday, January 22, the Santos team faced Palmeiras in the Copa São Paulo de juniores, abbreviated Copinha, an annual football competition which brings together 128 teams in the city of Sao Paulo. This competition is reserved for young people under the age of 20. The match had entered added time when several Sao Paulo supporters took to the field to threaten several young Palmeiras players.

Palmeiras were winning 1-0 when Sao Paulo fans entered the pitch. One of them was armed with a knife and threatened a Palmeiras player. Quickly, the players of Sao Paulo and Palmeiras intervened. Finally, on the video, we can see that the main referee is holding the knife brought by one of the supporters.

After a few minutes of interruption, the match resumed and was at the end of additional time. Palmeiras finally won 1-0 in this semi-final thanks to Giovanni’s only goal. The final will take place on January 25 and Palmeiras will face Santos in a bid to claim their first title in the competition.
