A1 Women – Famila Wuber takes the field of Broni: 14th victory in a row

Victory number 14 comes from Oltrepò Pavese for Famila Wuber who continues his perfect path in Techfind Serie A1. The oranges beat Broni‘s Palaverde for 48-82 despite a not very generous evening in shooting from distance (7/26 total, 2/14 in the first half) and in which coach Dikaioulakos kept Gruda at rest.

The whole group responded in attendance and played a fast-paced game with many quick baskets (19 points on the counterattack), the result of an aggressive defense that forced the hosts to lose 30 balls; excellent tests under the dashboards of Keys and Andrè who celebrated 1000 career points in Italy. Sottana, in his 400th match in Serie A1, closes with 9 points and 3 assists.

The contest opens with the points of the centers, Andrè and Smith, and the heavy conclusion of Dedic for the first (and only) home advantage: 5-2. Schio packs a 9-0 break (with a triple from Keys) which is worth the immediate 5-11, soon recovered by Albano and Mazza for at least one. The Famila, unlike the green-and-whites, sparacchia from the bow (1/11) and then rely on a fast game especially from steal: Dotto, Keys and Deshields stamp the +8 but the final green-and-white reaction with Galbiati, Dedic and Smith closes the first quarter on a balanced 18-19.
The first shock comes upon returning to the field: the orange tightens the defensive shirts, they quickly spend the bonus but keep the opponents dry for over four minutes. The Bronesi points all come from Galbiati, the most inspired, while Schio continues to fight in the long-range shot and finds good solutions thanks above all to the attacking rebounds (already in double figures). Sottana’s triple in transition at 18 ‘gives the first double-digit advantage (24-36) which leads to 26-39 in the middle of the match.

The offensive percussions of Westerik and Smith bring Costruzioni Italia back under the double figures but it is a flash in the pan: Sottana proposes a stop and a textbook shot three times in a row which, together with the free throws of Mestdagh (unsportsmanlike foul of Bestagno) and Keys are worth a 11-0 run. Broni takes four minutes to find his way back to the basket while Schio travels at high gears; in the last minute Crippa punishes the defense in zone 2-3 of Pavia at the first attempt from the arc for the 41-63 at the end of the third quarter.
Coach Castelli immediately proposes the zone defense and again, like a sentence, the Famila hits from the arc with Mestdagh. Andrè capitalizes on other extra offensive possessions by hitting the double digits like Deshields who continues with his percussion in the open field and trips to the bezel. On a bad evening of long-range shooting, Crippa and Laksa take off a couple of satisfactions by burning their retina from behind the arch for the final 48-82.
