Adil Rami loses against OM at industrial tribunal

OM lead 1-0 against their former defender Adil Rami who has promised a return match in court after his legal action was dismissed on Monday before the Marseille Labor Court.

Dismissed for serious misconduct in the summer of 2019 when he was linked with Olympique de Marseille until 2021, the 2018 world champion had attacked the Marseille club before the Prud’hommes for unfair dismissal. Rami was claiming nearly four million euros for his last two years of contract as well as for damages related to image damage. In open war with Jacques-Henri Eyraud, then president of OM, Rami was furious at the reason given for his dismissal: unprofessional behavior. The club accused him of having committed a serious fault by participating in the program Fort Boyard (May 16, 2019) without having been authorized by the Marseille staff, when he was injured.

The Marseille industrial tribunal, in its judgment, considered that the breach of contract for the 36-year-old central defender, today in Troyes, was justified. Small consolation for Rami, he also condemned OM concerning salary deductions, following a supposed overpayment. They were judged “abusive” by the court and the club will have to reimburse part of it to the player, with some damages.

Rami and his advisers have already decided to appeal this decision to the Aix-en-Provence Court of Appeal, in the hope of winning the breach of contract. But without guarantee of winning in this second round.
