As the national association announced, a total of twelve players and staff members tested positive, including coach Amir Abdou. Worse still, both goalkeepers, Moyadh Ousseini and Ali Ahamada, were hit. Regular keeper Ben Boina was injured in the win against Ghana and will not be able to play in his national team’s round of 16 debut. The Comoros will probably have to play without a trained goalkeeper.

“We are trying everything in our power to find solutions,” said team manager El-Hadad Himidi in a video posted by the association on Twitter: “But without our coach, without some key players and especially without our two remaining goalkeepers, the situation is very difficult complicated.”
The Africa Cup is characterized by Corona, players are repeatedly tested positive and have to go into isolation. For example, Tunisia had to complain about twelve positive cases before the final group game against Gambia.
