The American Torrey Pines is Jon Rahm's Promised Land”>Luke List won this Saturday in the playoffs the PGA Farmers Insurance Open tournament at Torrey Pines in La Jolla (California), while the Spanish Jon Rahm finished third and the Chilean Joaquín Niemann sixth.
List birdied the first hole of the playoffs to beat compatriot Will Zalatoris for his first US PGA Tour title in his 206th start.
The 37-year-old winner, ranked 151st in the world, delivered a sensational final round with seven birdies, four in a row on the front nine.
His par 66 (-6) put him at 273 (-15), and he had to wait two tense hours to see if he was caught, with Zalatoris, former world number one Jason Day and current No. 1, the Spanish Jon Rahm on the prowl.
Rahm, who won his first major US Open title at the same Torrey Pines course last June, made three of his four birdies in a flurry on holes seven, eight and nine. He drained a 26-foot shot on the 17th hole to come within a shot, but was unable to take advantage of the par-five final hole. He closed with a 71 with a total of 274 hits.
Niemann concluded the round with a card with 67 (-5) strokes to total 275 (-13), along with four other players.
Chilean Mito Pereira also finished in 25th place with 279 hits (-9), followed by Venezuelan Jhonattan Vegas and Colombian Sebastián Muñoz, who shared 39th place with 282 hits each (-6).
The Colombian Camilo Villegas also did it in 67th place with 288 hits, equal to the field, and the Mexican Carlos Ortiz in 70th with 289 (+1).
The Argentine Emiliano Grillo was eliminated by not making the cut on the second day.
