Another great basketball event in Cuenca: the Alevín Provincial Selection Tournament will be held in the capital on February 27

The San Fernando Pavilion in the capital of Cuenca will be in charge of hosting the tournament. The agreement was sealed yesterday between the city council, with its sports councilor Charo Rodríguez, and FBCLM, with President José Esteban Gálvez.

Yesterday, the Municipal Sports Institute of the Cuenca City Council sealed the agreement regarding the celebration of the Alevines Provincial Selection Tournament that will take place next Sunday, February 27 at the San Fernando Pavilion. Meeting in which Charo Rodríguez, Councilor for Sports, and José Esteban Gálvez were present. Meeting in which representatives of CB Cuenca were also present, a club that will provide all its infrastructure in collaboration with the FBCLM so that the tournament can be carried out normally.

Gálvez highlighted “the involvement of the clubs in the city and the town hall to be able to celebrate one of the most beautiful events organized by the federation. More than 200 boys and girls from all over the region will enjoy the tournament and the coexistence in Cuenca with the aim of promoting grassroots sports in the city, supporting the great work that the Cuenca clubs and the sports schools of the city council are doing”.

After confirming the agreement, the mayor of Cuenca, Darío Dolz, expressed his satisfaction with the fact that the city is hosting this tournament, since “we are going to be able to see the high level of the boys and girls in our region, to the point that those who end up being part of the Castilla-La Mancha National Team will play here». In addition, he added, «to have the added value of what it will mean for the promotion of Cuenca, as well as the social and economic impact implied by the presence of those 200 players along with their families and companions. We are delighted to host this event and we have already thrown the Federation the gauntlet of repeating on future occasions.

Rodríguez, on the other hand, together with part of his technical team, showed their total predisposition so that not only the event at the end of the month, but also the two cup phases, can be carried out successfully in Cuenca. Undoubtedly events that throughout the month will have an economic and social impact due to the visit of many athletes and companions for the different competitions. Paulino Fernández and Alfonso Álvaro, presidents of CB Cuenca and Cuenca Women, participated in this meeting, providing key suggestions for the proper development of all competitions.

The two cup phases will be held shortly, the Comunitelia Cup scheduled for February 5 and 6 and the Women’s 2nd Division Cup that will take place on February 12 and 13 just a week later. Both competitions will be played at the El Sargal Sports Center (Esperanza Calvo Court).
