Armand Duka’s home was bombed after he received a message threatening his death. His wife and son are in the house and are unharmed.

AA bomb attack has been carried out on the home of the President of the Football Association of Albania (FShF), Armand Duka, in the Albanian coastal city of Durres. Nobody was injured. The television station Klan TV showed pictures from a surveillance camera on Tuesday showing the alleged perpetrator attaching the explosive charge to the gate of Duka’s property and the subsequent detonation.

Duka was in the capital Tirana at the time on Monday evening. His wife and son were in the house, both were unharmed. Duka has been at the head of the association for around 20 years. Numerous critics and opponents accuse him of corruption, money laundering and manipulation of the elections for the FShF committees.

New elections for the association’s leadership are scheduled for March. Duka wants to apply again for the top job. According to his own statements, he received a text message containing a death threat.

The European football union Uefa was “deeply concerned” about the current development in Albanian football and expressed its support for Duka. The final of the new Conference League is to be held in Tirana on May 25th.
