JAKARTA, KOMPAS.TV – Arsenal’s attempts to sign Arthur Melo have been hampered after Juventus requested Thomas Party as a transfer deal.
The Gunners who this season are trying to compete again in the top four continue to strengthen the squad they have.
Although last summer Arsenal had spent 150 million pounds to bring in new players, the tactician, Mikel Arteta, still continues to make up for his team’s shortcomings, especially in midfield.
Moreover, currently their two midfielders, Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey are on duty for their respective countries in the African Cup of Nations.
Arteta was also said to be very interested in bringing in Arthur Melo, who had difficulty breaking into Massimiliano Allegri’s Juventus core team.
Apparently, Juve are also willing to let go of the midfielder even though he only joined from Barcelona 18 months ago.
The deal seems to be going fast, with Goal Brasil reported on Thursday (13/1/2022) that the 25-year-old has agreed personal terms with the Bullet Warehouse team.
Despite agreeing to let Arthur go, Juventus still withheld the transfer before they got a replacement midfielder.
Initially they wanted to get Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea.
