Athlete Kristīne Blaževiča becomes the leader of the winter season in pentathlon

Blaževiča had her first start of the season in indoor pentathlon at the Texas Tech Open in Laboka.

The multi-fighter completed the 60-meter hurdles during a repeated personal record of 8.54 seconds, earning 1,008 points. She also had a new record in high jump – 1.77 meters (941 p.).

The result in bullet shooting was not bad either – 12.47 meters (692 p.), But a lot of points (846 p.) Came in a 5.99 meter long jump.

The pentathlete finished with an excellent personal record in the 800-meter race – two minutes and 13.43 seconds (915 p.), Which was even faster than last summer in the stadium.

Adding all the points, Blaževiča scored 4402 points, correcting last winter’s record (4213 points) by almost 200 points.

In Latvia, Blaževiča is still the fourth best pentathlete of all time – after the Latvian record holder Laura Ikauniece (p. 4701 – 2019), Aiga Grabuste (p. 4463 – 2009) and Līga Kļaviņa (p. 4452 – 2001).

Blazevich also set a record for the University of Texas. He is also a leader in the U.S. student (NCAA) and world rankings at the start of the season.

Rūta Kate Lasmane is still the leader of the NCAA in 13.85 meters.

Other Latvian athletes studying in America also started on Friday.

In the race in Lawrence, Daniel Bambal was second in the 1000 meter race – two minutes and 36.37 seconds. In Lincoln, Ieva Turķe jumped 5.65 meters in the distance and was sixth. Katrīna Kamarūte won both races in the 200 meters (25.80 seconds) and 400 meters (59.06 seconds) races in Luiv. Louise also won her first pentathlon this winter in Lincoln. Her second place with a result of 3423 points (9.25 – 1.57 – 12.26 – 5.06 – 2; 35.84).
