SALTILLO COAHUILA. – Nuevo León will host a sporting event of great relevance at the national level: starting on January 24, the XLVIII National Outdoor Archery Championship 2022 will be held at the INDE Nuevo León facilities.
This event is part of the selection process to form a pre-selection for the qualifier for the Central American and Caribbean Games El Salvador 2023, as well as for the qualifier for the Pan American Games Santiago de Chile 2023, in addition to the 2022 World Cup series.
In this national event, Coahuila will have the participation of 10 athletes: Juan Pablo Téllez Aguirre, Ángela Ruiz Rosales, Sebastián Ignacio Reyes Garza and Ian Rebeca Granados Güereca, within the Cadet B Category.
In the Youth Category, José Julián Anguiano Chapa, Selene Rodríguez Riojas, Gadiel González Rocha and Jesús del Ángel Flores Alanís will participate.
In the Senior Youth Category will be the triple gold medalist at the Cali-Valle 2021 Junior Pan American Games Dafne Valeria Quintero García, and the Olympic athlete in Tokyo 2021 Ana Paula Vázquez Flores.
The Coahuilense contingent will be guided by their coaches Miguel Ángel Bárcenas Ramos, Eduardo Magaña Poot, Luis Eduardo García Garza and Emil Chapoy López.
“This event is very important for the Federation (FMTA), since it is part of the selection process that both Recurve and Compound archers will have, in order to seek classification for the 2023 events, which are among the most important to date. Paris 2024”, mentioned the president of the Mexican Archery Federation, Santiago Avitia Hernández.
He added that the two Tokyo Olympic medalists Alejandra Valencia and Luis Álvarez will participate in this national event, as well as high-quality archers such as Mariana Avitia, Olympic medalist in London 2012, or Aida Román, medalist in London.
