“I leave Nacional above, and I’m leaving”, was one of the last sentences that Osvaldo Juan Zubeldía left in this world. The Argentine, who was a two-time champion with the purslane team, died on January 17, 1982, shortly after fulfilling his promise to raise the fourth star of Atlético Nacional.
40 years after his death, the purslane team organized a conversation this Monday at the Nutibara Hotel, where they took the opportunity to unveil a commemorative plaque to the Argentine coach, who arrived in the 1970s to revolutionize Colombian soccer.
Today marks the 40th anniversary of the death of one of the most important DT’s in our history, a pillar of Verdolaga DNA and two-time champion in ’76 and ’81. FOREVER “MAESTRO” ZUBELDÍA! pic.twitter.com/wXxZE8ZK6a

The president of the club, Emilio Gutiérrez, the coach and member of the technical committee Francisco Maturana, former manager Humberto Benavides, former players Víctor Luna, Hernán Darío Herrera, Pedro Sarmiento, Gabriel Jaime Gómez, among others, were present at this discussion.
“His legacy transcended sports. He left life teachings, he was a mythical person and he taught the player to be more complete,” said club president Emilio Gutiérrez.
For more than an hour and a half, the club streamed the conversation and the moment in which the commemorative plaque was presented. It was a time where they remembered the Argentine coach, they projected audios of the time and in which the reunion and camaraderie united these Colombian soccer characters around an icon of South American sport that split the history of our soccer in two.
