Australian tennis player Ashleigh Barty won the Australian Open

Ashleigh Barty won the Australian Open, one of the four most important tennis tournaments in the world, which make up the Grand Slam: she beat the American Danielle Collins in two sets (6-3, 7-6) in the final, making a remarkable comeback in the second, when Collins was 5-1 ahead with two breaks ahead. Barty, who made it to the end of the tournament without losing a single set, became the first Australian tennis player to win the title since 1978, when Chris O’Neil won it.

Barty is considered one of the strongest tennis players of her generation and is number 1 in the WTA rankings, the association that brings together professional tennis players. He had already won two Grand Slams: Roland Garros in 2019 and Wimbledon in 2021.
