Alsatian and surrounding badminton players have been waiting for this for a year: the finals of the 30e edition of the Läuch tournament took place this Sunday, September 23. Despite an unusual place for the occasion (the Human Rights gymnasium), the players in the running proudly fought to win the leek, synonymous with final victory.
“We centralized all the final phase matches because it is the spirit of the tournament that wants a D9 match to be put on the same level as a N2 match”, indicate the organizers. The promising young badminton players were thus able to rub shoulders with the most experienced on the circuit.
Optimal organization despite the complicated context
In the image of the men’s singles final in the N2 series, pitting the immutable Julien Fuchs (ASPTT Strasbourg) against the stingy Robin Boistel. A match that turned in favor of the Strasbourg player, while in control and which confirmed his favorite status.
Note the presence of Jean-Frédéric Massias, former champion of France, who came to follow the beautiful battles fought by the athletes. The last final matches ended around 8 p.m.
If the Covid has once again played bad tricks with last minute participation withdrawals, causing the cancellation of the ladies’ singles and ladies’ doubles in the N2 series, the organizers have made sure that the tournament is as pleasant as possible.
A bracelet was given when entering the gymnasium for the first time to avoid checking the vaccination pass as soon as an athlete returned to the complex after going out to eat, for example.
“All the participants thanked us for organizing the tournament and they were delighted to finally be able to come back here”, rejoiced the president of ASL Robertsau Thibaut Mension.
A nice consolation which came to compensate for the ban on setting up a refreshment bar which was to generate revenue for the organizing club.
