SIENA. The Siena Baseball Club Board, in the meeting held in video conference mode on Friday 28 January, defined the technical staff for the 2022 season.
Manager of the C series is the confirmed Cuban coach Jesus Barroso Gutierrez, who will arrive in Italy on February 23 and will be available for training and school promotional activity at the end of the quarantine, required by law for those coming from abroad to our country. . For Barroso that of 2022 will be the sixth season in our province: the first four with the Monteriggioni team (2009 – 2013), while in 2021 (and this year in 2022) he joined Siena with Estra Siena BC
Leading the Under 12 team, entrusted to Antonio Rodriguez last season (who returned a few days ago for family reasons in the Dominican Republic), will be the technical instructor Francesco Giusti, who, before dedicating himself to Serie C (first as manager, then, last year, as coach of pitchers, in the past he led the U12 of the Monteriggioni team (from 2007 to 2011) and, again in Castellina Scalo, the Allievi / U15 (from 2012 to 2015, winning the title of regional champion in 2014 ), as well as having been the coach of the federal youth camps of Rivabella.
The two managers will be joined by technicians in training Gaia Benvenuti, Irene Bonazzola and José Alberto Sanchez, who are following the training course organized by the National Technical Committee.
In the 2022 season, as already happened last year, the Juventus club will therefore enroll one team in the Serie C national championship and one in the Under 12 baseball regional championship (Esordienti). Participation in the Serie C national championship did not seem so obvious at the beginning, given that some of the key players of the 2021 season had decided to leave Siena to marry in Arezzo (De La Rosa, whose card is owned by Lucca, Bonilla Castro , shortstop and pitcher who, being a foreigner even if AFI – an Italian-trained athlete – is released at the end of each season and German de Jesus, AFI first base, who has agreed with Siena to be released). In addition to De La Rosa, who has returned on loan to Lucca, Bonilla Castro and German de Jesus will be left free to marry the Dominicans Alberto Berroa de Jesus (AFI, who was in the list of bound), Aquino Brazoban, Mercedes, Pena (all three non-AFI foreigners) and Selmo (AFI foreigners), the latter three in the list of unconstrained. The Under 18s will still be joined to the first team, including the young pitcher Riccardo Rodriguez (last year on loan to BSC Grosseto). “The club is particularly grateful to all of them for what they did on the pitch last year and wishes everyone an excellent continuation in their sporting career,” said the Sienese association on social media.
As for the refurbishment of the Petriccio youth facility, on Wednesday the company commissioned by the Municipality of Siena made the second inspection of the facility, in order to then be able to order the artificial turf which will have to replace the severely worn one.
“We hope to be ready as soon as possible, to be able to ask the Federation for the approval of the structure for the disputes of the Under 12 matches”, remarked the Juventus management, who wanted to thank the municipal administration of Siena, the mayor Luigi De Mossi, the councilor for Sport Paolo Benini, the managers and municipal employees of the Infrastructure Maintenance Office and the Sport Service for their sensitivity and availability.
Once the land has been secured and gates and fences have been fixed, the wooden structure financed by the main sponsor Estra will be installed.
