Thornton is operated – Doreth with a positive corona test
Thornton broke his little finger on Sunday in the game at FC Bayern Basketball, in which coach Korner was still absent due to illness. The newcomer from Chemnitz will probably have to take a break for several weeks and will be operated on at the end of the week.
Bastian Doreth, who was on his way back to the team after his injury, is also out again: the medi captain tested positive for the corona virus. As the club announced on Monday evening (01/31/22), Doreth and another person from the coaching and support staff had positive test results during tests on Monday morning.
Decimated against Parma and Hamburg
Thornton and Doreth will be absent when the team receives a Parma match from Russia in the FIBA Europe Cup on Tuesday evening (February 1st, 2022). At least Thornton is definitely not to be expected for the league game on Saturday evening against the Hamburg Towers.
In the European Cup, Bayreuth can no longer progress, they are tenth in the Bundesliga and, despite their injury misery, still have a chance of reaching the play-off places.
