Francis Tomé’s men succumbed to a much more toned Zamora Enamora in the last quarter
Hard defeat harvested last night by Tizona Universidad de Burgos at home against Zamora Enamora in a match marked by numerous losses and the very poor success in outside shooting that ended up penalizing the Burgos in an even match.

Francis Tomé revolutionized the starting quintet with the composition of Iván Martínez along with Pedro García and Papi Diene, who accompanied Dídac Cuevas and Ale Bortolussi, starting the match with a great defense that annulled a Zamora Enamora that took more than three minutes to open the marker, fitting
a partial 7-0 favorable to a Tizona that came out much better.
Jeff Solarin’s triple opened the ban for the visitors, to leave an exchange of baskets and play that made its way in the face of the defensive activity of both teams to reach the
end of the first act with local advantage by 18 to 14.
In the second act, the visitors managed to break Tizona’s defense through the outside shot. Erika Kalinichenco would open the ban so that Souleymane Traoré immediately turned the score around for the first time in the match at 6:19 to reach the break (20-21).
The equality was maintained on the track with multiple changes of advantage that ended up opting for the visiting side in the final stretch.
A 10-2 run for the Zamoranos dealt a heavy blow to the Burgos which, with Jacob Round’s triple almost at the horn, left the score with a complicated 32-39.
After the break, Francis Tomé’s board took center stage with
a Tizona commanded by Dídac Cuevas and seconded by the tireless Iván Martínez that led to the comeback. Pedro García started the part getting a crucial 2+1 to believe. Corey and Iván kept the team afloat after Harris’ basket for Dídac Cuevas to arrive with a great three-pointer to turn the score around four minutes after the restart (43-41) and thus culminate
an 11-2 for hope.
Jacob Round would return the boards to the scoreboard to leave a nice room for the fan, with multiple lead changes. Meanwhile,
debuted at El Plantío Adam Presutti who, with a great triple, returned the boards with which they reached the end of the third quarter (52-52).
With all swords raised, Corey carved out a hole in the paint in a potentially decisive start. Kalinichenco warned of Zamora Enamora’s intentions with an outside shot that Bortolussi and Deberry himself neutralized at first with little success.
The equality was maximum, but
the little foreign success of the people of Burgos began to take its toll. With the attack stuck, it was time to defend in search of keeping the bid until the end. The defensive wear was going to add to the lack of success against a Zamora who recovered the triple to do damage at the worst moment of the game. Halfway through the fourth, Bobby Harris’ outside shot did a lot of damage to Francis Tomé’s team, which began to give up the lead. Jeff Solarin made it 58-64 and forced the coach from Burgos to stop the game again in search of a shock.
The visitors entered the bonus and the free kick was going to be crucial, but on this occasion the ball did not want to enter the basket as many times as necessary to offset the difference. Iván Martínez did not miss his shots and tightened the match again with three minutes to go (61-64), but
Again Kalinichencho took out his bazooka to strike down Tizona from the outside.
Out of ideas, the only thing left was to appeal to the heroic one who did not appear this time to finish
giving in to a direct rival after a bad game that ended with only seven accurate triples of more than thirty attempts.
A defeat that moves Tizona Universidad de Burgos away from the leading positions, which will have a day to reflect before returning to the fray on February 5 in El Plantío against Aquimisa Carbajosa Empresarial in a new regional duel where victory is the only option.
