Washington (AP) – An assistant coach of the Brooklyn Nets has caused a curiosity in the North American professional basketball league NBA. Assistant David Vanterpool prevented a pass from the hosts by touching the ball during the Nets’ game against the Washington Wizards (119:118).
The trio of referees didn’t see the situation with almost five and a half minutes to go when Brooklyn was 109:103 and allowed the match to continue. Nets professional Kessler Edwards got the ball and initiated the counterattack.
“I’ve never experienced anything like this in my long basketball career,” said Wizards assistant coach Jospeh Blair. “No one is perfect, but in a game like this it’s very hard to accept.”
