Weißenfels (dpa) – The basketball players from Syntainics MBC got some air in the fight against relegation. The team from Weißenfels defeated BG Göttingen, bottom of the table, 93:83 (47:35) on their home turf on Sunday. After the second win in a row, coach Igor Jovovic’s men are currently six points clear of the relegation zone and are climbing to 14th place.
Jamel Morris (22), Nikola Rebic (19), Goran Huskic (17), Reggie Upshaw (13) and Behnam Yakchali (12) contributed the most to the sixth win of the season. Kamar Baldwin (19), Harper Kamp (18), Jeff Roberson and Jake Toolson (10 each) scored the most points for Lower Saxony.
The hosts already made a preliminary decision in the first quarter and after 16:16 (6th) they moved up to 29:16 within three minutes. The Central Germans continuously expanded this lead and were ahead by 58:40 in the 24th minute. The players from Weißenfels benefited from their concentrated performance in defense and their superiority under the boards (43:31 rebounds).
