As has so often happened in the past few weeks, the Hamburg Towers had to implement a new rule for the city’s audience. But this time the news was pretty good: At the home game (Friday, 8.30 p.m.) against Syntainics MBC from Weißenfels, 1000 fans can again be welcomed to Inselpark.
“We are very happy about the courtesy of the city,” says Towers managing director Jan Fischer and explains: “Thanks to the special permit, the additional effort could be reduced significantly, at least for a short time.” Before that, only 200 spectators were allowed inside Wilhelmsburg. The new regulation currently only applies to the game against Weißenfels. No information has yet been given about the subsequent home game against Ulm (January 29).
Hamburg Towers receive Syntainics MBC in front of a larger backdrop
This news not only delights Towers fans, but also the players. “The fans in Hamburg were great. That’s why we’re happy to have as many people as possible in the arena, ”said Guard Ray McCallum. “It’s definitely not the same without fans. You then have to create the energy yourself, ”explains the American.

With the fire of the fans in their backs, the towers now want to take their third competitive game victory in a row. The upcoming opponent Weißenfels has, curiously, scored exactly as many points as the Hanseatic League. With 1264 points, both teams are among the better offensives in the league. But at MBC the shoe pinches in defense. Precisely because of this, they only won one of the last eleven games. The Towers definitely want to expand this negative series.
