Benitez only coached Everton for seven months, then sacked

Liverpool

Rafael Benitez only lasted seven months as manager of Everton. After a series of poor results for The Toffees, Benitez was finally fired.

Benitez was only appointed as Everton manager last summer replacing Carlo Ancelotti who moved to Real Madrid. Equipped with a fairly capable squad, Everton had stepped on the gas at the start of this season.

However, since September 25, Everton have only won once, over Arsenal in December. Everton have three draws and nine defeats, apart from three games postponed due to the COVID-19 storm.

As a result, Everton are now stuck in 16th position in the Premier League standings with 19 points, only six points from Norwich in 18th. Not only that, Everton have also been eliminated in the English League Cup and qualified hard for the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Everton’s poor appearance made management inevitably have to dismiss Benitez. The 1-2 defeat to Norwich, Saturday (15/1/2022) night WIB yesterday was the highlight.

“Everton Football Club confirms the dismissal of Rafael Benitez from the position of team manager. Benitez, who only joined Everton in Junia 2021, leaves the club immediately,” said an official statement from the Liverpool city club.

“Information about the replacement manager will be announced in the near future.”

Rafael Benitez has indeed been accepted by most Everton fans since his arrival to Goodison Park, considering that he is a former Liverpool manager. Even his house in Liverpool also came under attack from some Blue Merseyside supporters.

During his time under the Spanish manager, Everton only won seven, lost nine and drew five of 21 matches. A total of 30 goals were scored and 37 goals conceded.

Goodbye, Rafael!
