We’ve been saying it for a while now, Mavericks winning streak ends abruptly”>Luka Doncic is not necessarily very well surrounded at the Mavs. However, the latter could soon remedy this… According to the latest rumors, two men in particular would be closely scrutinized by the Texans, and they could each make them pass a course.
Fifth in the West (23 wins for 19 losses), Dallas has little chance of entering the Top 4 with already four wins behind the Grizzlies. However, you have to be careful not to get overtaken by the pursuers, and strengthening the group would not be a bad idea. According to sources from Marc Stein, whose remarks were relayed by Fan Nation, two players from the Eastern Conference would thus be targeted to be aligned alongside Luka Doncic :
Dallas tried to enter the balance to recruit Myles Turner or John Collins. Jalen Brunson and Dorian Finney-Smith, two Mavericks who are paid little but highly rated on the market and who will be free this summer if their contracts are not extended by June 30, will not lack suitors.
John Collins and Myles Turner in Dallas sights
Two different profiles, but which could well help the workforce of Jason Kidd at present. Turner is a real totem in defense, able to protect his circle with nearly three blocks per game. For comparison, the Mavs all together accumulate 3.7 blocks on average over 48 minutes… So it wouldn’t hurt them, especially since he is also able to move behind the arc if necessary, thus creating spaces for Slovenian.

As for John Collins, this is an almost ideal interior for El Matador on the offensive level. The Hawk loves galloping on the field and his athleticism allows him to dismiss anyone near the basket. Not a defensive war thunderbolt, he is on the other hand much more suited to a moving attack than a Kristaps Porzingis, whose size (2m21) makes him too slow for this style of play. In any case, it would give an extremely exciting duo in Texas!
However, nothing is currently being done and Doncic must do with what he has available to date. Less skilful and prolific in scoring in 2021-22 (24.7 points at 43.5% against 27.7 points at 48% last year), he remains however still as versatile and has even just make history against Memphis. A great victory by the way, which allows the Mavs to keep a little ahead of Denver and the Lakers in particular.
John Collins, Myles Turner: so many beautiful names circulating on the side of Dallas, who must finally give some gear to Luka Doncic. It’s doubly in their interest, both to gain competitiveness and to keep No. 77 in a good mood…
