Por the new year, the Boulazac Basket Dordogne took the wrong resolution to produce a basketball draft. After the completely failed match at Saint-Quentin despite a comeback (90-83), Friday January 14, the Périgourdins did it again this Saturday against the leader of this Pro B, Saint-Chamond.

This second defeat in a row does not suffer from any dispute. In attitude, commitment, the collective, the Boulazacois were below everything. The first quarter illustrated this insult: 0/4 at three points, nine stray balls. Almost everything in these first ten minutes was to be thrown away.

Boyer and Varence gave the visitors a first lead while the BBD were unable to put a shot, from far as under the circle (2-6, 3e, then 9-15, 7e). Without forgetting the stupid clumsiness.

Then Magrit, far from being a painter, stole a ball from Moore and penalized three points. Saint-Chamond began to unfold (11-20, 9e then 15-24, 10e).

Meager satisfaction for Boulazac, the rebound. But around it was gloomy plain. We had to wait for the 15e minute for a Boulazacois, in this case Tchouaffé, to score at three points (26-37). The eighth local attempt.

Folded in 30 minutes

Just before the break, the gap was maintained at around 10 units but Boyer, solid on the fundamentals and in the ability to enter vigorously into his vis-à-vis, caused many problems for the Périgord interiors.

Tchouaffé managed to bring the BBD down to 10 points behind (36-46). Only a technical fault by Magrit for flopping allowed the Périgourdins to go below this bar at the break (41-49). But with 49 points conceded in twenty minutes, it’s hard to hope for anything.

And the third quarter came to bury Boulazac. Avoidable blunders made it impossible to consider a return. Boulazac tried individual actions which, inevitably, did not work against a simple but well-oiled team (44-60, 25e).

Nikola Antic, no doubt exasperated, even took two timeouts in one minute. On the second, the BBD coach yelled a blow and left his players with their good-natured attitude.

The rant didn’t work. Saint-Chamond reached its maximum advantage at the end of this nightmare third quarter (51-74, 30e).

The Palio, limited to 2,000 people, began to whistle and grumble. The last ten minutes? Two three-pointers from Magrit and Hoyaux finished off the beast and the final six clocks were just a long wait for the final buzzer.

The reaction

Ivan February (Boulazac winger): “I find that players have hidden themselves. I haven’t been good either. We may not play well, it happens, but we have 2,000 people coming to see us. And we can’t lower our heads like we did at the end of the match. But Saint-Chamond is playing so well…”
