CAN: twelve players from Tunisia with Covid before a decisive match

“Tonight (Wednesday), the players took part in a training session in the presence of 16 players and in the absence of the rest (from the selection of 28 team members, editor’s note) due to their contamination by Covid-19” , said the Federation, while Tunisia hopes to qualify for the 8th finals.

The federation said that “tests on Tuesday revealed the contamination of Ali Maaloul, Ayman Dahmen, Ghailene Chaalali, Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, Wahbi Khazri, Ali Jmal and Mohamed Amine Ben Hmida who were isolated from the group”.

According to the federation, the tests have on the other hand attested to the recovery of Mohamed Drager while five other players, contaminated at the start of the tournament, are regularly subjected to rapid tests in the hope that they will become negative by the match against the Gambia.

Tunisia have revived well in Group F of the African Cup of Nations (CAN) by beating Mauritania 4-0 on Sunday and can hope to qualify at the expense of Mali or Gambia.
