ESPN’s Jeff Passan announced the change. It will now be Scott Boras who will represent the shortstop.
“I have made the decision to hire Boras Corporation to represent me in the future,” Correa said in a statement. “Boras Corporation offers the highest level of baseball expertise and proven experience.”
Still a free agent because of the lockout, Correa is the most coveted free agent left on the market. It is widely believed that he will land a roughly 10-year deal worth over $300 million. By comparison, shortstop Corey Seager signed with the Texas Rangers for $325 million over 10 years. Seager is also represented by Boras.
Among the candidates to bring in Correa are the Yankees and the Dodgers, even if Correa’s asking price would be a deterrent for the Bronx franchise.
