Caymans won second straight game

Caribbean Series“>Caimanes de Barranquilla defeated the Astronauts of Panama this Saturday 6-5 in nine innings. A game-winning hit by Harold Ramírez in the last chapter propelled the second Colombian victory in the history of the Caribbean Series and puts the ‘curramberos’ with a 2-0 record in this edition.

The victory was scored by Sugar Ray Marimón, while the defeat corresponded to Abdiel Saldaña.

Alligators went up on the board in the first act. Carlos Arroyo from Cartagena hit a huge home run through the left forest on a 3-2 count that took the fence without men in circulation and put the “saurians” ahead for a good part of the game.

The starter Elkin Alcalá remained dictatorial on the mound in the first episodes. The right-hander posted consecutive zeros until the fifth inning, supported by his defense which made him three ‘double-plays’, to maintain the advantage of a hairline.

In addition, an outstanding performance in left field by Dilson Herrara who destroyed a couple of dangerous hits with his glove against that corner of the park.

Caimanes will return to action this Sunday in the third game of the Caribbean Series, when they face Mexico at 9:00 in the morning, Colombia time.
