Birthdays, weddings and New Year’s Eve have been celebrated in small groups over the past two years. Despite the Corona rules, some celebrities from the television industry and competitive sports have thrown big parties in the past two years – regardless of their role model function. Politicians who were jointly responsible for introducing the measures also organized private celebrations.
Boris Johnson
The British Prime Minister is said to have organized a party in the garden of his official residence on May 20, 2020. An invitation had been emailed to around 100 people by Johnson’s private secretary. Dozens of employees and the head of government are said to have accepted the invitation on Downing Street. The Crown Princess Amalia of the Dutch royal family held a big party for her 18th birthday. During this time, citizens were only allowed to receive four guests at home. Around 100 guests came to the celebration in the palace garden, reported “De Telegraaf”. The court stated that it had only sent 21 invitations.
