Charleroi and Ghent did not put on a great show this Saturday evening at the Mambourg in a meeting with very few chances. The two teams are content with a point which allows the Carolos to stop the bleeding after two (heavy) consecutive defeats. Finally, this draw could do the business of Anderlecht who could take six points on their first two pursuers in the fight for PO1 in the event of victory in Mechelen.
From the start, we felt that the meeting between Zebras and Buffalos was not going to give birth to a string of goals. During the first act, the two teams stayed in place and did not concede many chances. The first action of the meeting is to be credited to Carolos after ten minutes. Lonely in the middle, Kayembe attempted a long shot that didn’t worry Sinan Bolat. Five minutes later, the people of Ghent were dangerous for the first time. From the left, Godeau sent a low cross to Bruno but the attacker lacked control and the Carolo defense could clear with a corner kick.
Then you have to wait half an hour to see the animation. First on a shot from Castro-Montes well stopped by Kamara, just before Bruno once again put the Carolo goalkeeper to work. At the end of the half, it was the Carolos who proved to be dangerous in quick succession. After an incursion into the rectangle badly cleared by the Ghents, Ilaimaharitra’s shot is deflected in extremis by Bolat.
At the start of the second period, the Zebras stepped on the accelerator. More intransigent in the duels and faster than the Buffalos, the Carolos took the game on their own but without managing to create a big opportunity. Nevertheless Zaroury could probably have obtained a penalty after a sole from De Sart. But neither the referee nor the VAR flinched. It was not until the 72nd minute that Bolat had to make his first save of the second half on a strike from Zaroury. Ten minutes from time, the Gantois could in turn claim a penalty following a tackle from Petkevicius. But again, the referee did not react.
The score of 0-0 finally reflects the face of the meeting well…
