Clement takes first victory: “Forging team that can play in different systems”

Philippe Clement has opened his account at AS Monaco. In his debut match, our compatriot had to be satisfied with a division of points against FC Nantes (0-0), but against Clermont Foot it went by itself: 4-0. Afterwards Clement was a satisfied man, thanks to the result and the game delivered.

The new Monaco coach indicated afterwards that it was “important” to take that first victory. Before the break, it took a long time for his men to find an opening, although they deserved a penalty, Clement notes delicately in a response. It was just before the coffee. “The first goal set us free,” he says.

In the end, Monaco struck no less than four times. “But that could have been more,” says Clement, who is gradually making his mark tactically. “I’ve seen the first signs of how we want to play in the future.” Although nothing is finalized yet, the work on training is bearing fruit. “We are forging a team that can play in different systems, so that we can surprise the opponent,” Clement said.
