Club took over the Belgian right-back from Inter last summer on a rental basis, with an option to purchase. But six months later, he only made two appearances. In mid-August he came on for Beerschot, a week later he started (and scored) at home against Zulte Waregem. But then he completely disappeared from the radar. Philippe Clement put Mata on the right, Van der Brempt occasionally got another chance, but Persyn was no longer involved. The coach change came at the right time for him, but now that it’s money time, he also threatened to fall by the wayside under Alfred Schreuder.
Persyn then looked for a solution and found it with Westerlo. There was also interest from 1A, but with the declarer from 1B there are more opportunities to play and that was the deciding factor. Club will resell it, which means that the purchase option will still be valid. (dvd, bdh)
