Cuba and Algeria celebrate this 2022 the 60th anniversary of the reestablishment of their diplomatic relations, in which sport has been a key element to strengthen ties.

That is why the visit, from Saturday to our country, of Fazil Abdelnour Ferhat, vice president of the Olympic Committee of the African nation, is satisfactory.

The manager was received by Rberto León Richards, president of the Cuban Olympic Committee, and by the deputy head of the Algerian embassy in Cuba, Omar Rekia.

According to Jit, the main objective of the visit is to specify training bases in the sports of boxing, judo, athletics, wrestling and canoeing, as well as the hiring and training of technicians with a view to the XIX Mediterranean Games in Oran-2022.

In addition, the Algerian side has expressed its interest in visiting sports facilities and for the training of middle and higher level professionals.

Previously, in September 2021, Abel Torres, Cuban chargé d’affaires ai in Algeria, held a working meeting with the president of the Algerian Olympic Committee, Abderrahmane Hammad, in which issues related to the prospects for cooperation in the field were discussed. sports and the willingness of both countries to continue the collaboration between the two institutions was ratified, according to the Minrex website.
