Danielle Kang wins the Tournament of Champions ahead of Brooke Henderson

Kang returned a 68 on the course at Lake Nona Golf Club and edged Canadian Brooke M. Henderson (70), who took the second echelon.

Kang, who finished the tournament with a cumulative score of -16, was the only golfer to shoot under 70 on Saturday and Sunday.

The 29-year-old American also proved to be the only player to complete four rounds in her 60s for this tournament, earning her sixth career LPGA title.

On his previous visit to Lake Nona, Kang had been unable to avoid the ax. When asked about it, however, she said she had no recollection of it.

Henderson didn’t bogey, but she didn’t keep pace with Kang. The Canadian had a good round putting her ball in the fairway on 12 of 14 holes and reached the green in regulation strokes 14 times.

Gaby Lopez, one of three players to hold the lead on Sunday, had a bumpy round. After paring two shots on the front nine, she took those two shots on the back nine.

Lopez shot 72 and finished alone in third place at -12. Frenchwoman Céline Boutier (71) and American Nelly Korda (75) shared fourth place.
