DeAndre Hopkins will miss the rest of the regular season

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is expected to miss the rest of the regular season with a sprained knee, sources tell ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

However, the Cardinals are hoping the star wideout will return sometime in the postseason.

It is currently still uncertain whether the 29-year-old wideout will need surgery.

Hopkins missed the final plays of Monday night’s game against the Los Angeles Rams. Head coach Kliff Kingsbury said Wednesday that Hopkins would seek a second opinion on his injury following a previous MRI scan.

After missing just two games in the first eight seasons of his career, Hopkins has struggled to stay on the field in 2021. He missed three games earlier this season due to a hamstring injury.

If he doesn’t return before the postseason, Hopkins will end the season with 42 catches, 572 yards and eight touchdowns in 10 games.

Kingsbury added that running back James Conner is still unfit with an ankle injury.

The Cardinals fell from No. 1 to No. 3 in the conference after Monday’s loss.
