Xavi Hernandez gives Ousmane Dembele an ultimatum. He urged the French star to immediately sign a new contract or leave Barcelona.
Dembele’s contract drama at Barcelona has not yet met a meeting point. The 24-year-old’s contract expires in June 2022, but he is reluctant to sign a new cooperation agreement with Blaugrana.
Barcelona have been in negotiations with Dembele’s side in recent months. However, there has been no consensus between the two parties so far.
The absence of Ousmane Dembele’s desire to extend the contract has made Barcelona lose patience. The cules threatened to release the former Borussia Dortmund as soon as this winter market.
This was conveyed by Xavi Hernandez as Barcelona coach. He admitted that he was ready to release Dembele if the player did not immediately sign a new contract offered by Barca.
“We, especially me, have been very clear. The situation is difficult to understand. He wants to renew, but his side did not decide,” said Xavi, quoted from Sports world.
“You can’t wait any longer. I asked myself this question too, but you have to ask him.”
“I don’t want to disrespect anyone, but the message is clear. Update it or please find a way out now,” said Xavi.
Xavi Hernandez is reportedly still waiting for Dembele to sign a contract extension before the Barcelona vs Athletic Bilbao duel on Friday (21/1/2022). Dembele is said to not be playing if he turns down a Barcelona contract again.
Ousmane Dembele has joined Barcelona since 2017. He made 129 appearances with 31 goals and 24 assists, and managed to bring two LaLiga titles to Camp Nou.
