News of Meat Loaf’s death broke on Friday. The singer, whose real name was Michael Lee Aday, has died at the age of 74. The longtime agent of the “I’d Do Anything for Love” interpreter, Michael Greene, confirmed the news to the online portal “Deadline”.

A statement from the family said: “We know how much he meant to many of you and we truly appreciate all of the love and support as we go through this time of loss of an inspiring artist and wonderful man mourn.”

Diseased Meat Loaf and Corona?

A cause of death was not publicly announced. However, there are reports from the media that want to know more. Speaking to TMZ, sources have revealed that the musician was supposed to have had a business dinner earlier in the week to discuss a new show called I’d Do Anything for Love. But the meeting was canceled because he was ill with the corona virus.

The informants of the US online newspaper also revealed that the condition of the 74-year-old quickly became very critical. It is not known whether Meat Loaf had been vaccinated against Covid-19. However, before his death he is said to have been open about his opinion about the virus and had a discussion with people in Australia about compulsory vaccination – but it is also not known for sure what his views are.

“I am not controlled”

In fact, Meat Loaf was critical of the restrictions during the global pandemic in an interview with the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette last August. “CNN came out last night that the masks we all wear are useless. But I’ve known that for six months.” The masks would not protect people from the corona virus. “They’re just a nuisance, it makes your nose itch and you can’t breathe well.”

When Meat Loaf’s interviewee said, “We’re all controlled,” he retorted, “Yes, I know. But I don’t. If I die, I die, but I’m not controlled.”

More than a year earlier, however, it had sounded like Meat Loaf was taking the situation seriously. According to “The Sun”, he appealed to his fans: “We all have to stick together and fight the outbreak of the deadly virus, so please consider how you can protect yourself and those around you.”

Meat Loaf spoke to Der Spiegel about his death six years ago. He had explained to the medium that there was a plan if he died in the middle of a performance. “If I should drop dead on stage, my musicians are instructed to sing ‘When the Saints Go Marching In’. And then immediately the baseball classic ‘Take Me Out to the Ballgame’. Even if I’m gone – the show continues.”
