DINAMO RIGA General Manager Edgars Buncis elected to the International Hockey Federation (IIHF) Committee.
Buncis will work in the President’s Special Assignments Working Group, which will be responsible for the development of the U-18 World Cup Elite Group.
The special task force of the IIHF U-18 Championship is entrusted to the German Franz Reindl. Scott Smith, Peter Forsberg, Pat Kelleher, Dmitry Kurbatov, Matti Nurminen, Pavel Mikhed and Jan Cerny will also work in this group.
“The task of the working group is to evaluate the current U18 Elite World Championship from the sports, organizational and financial point of view and to prepare proposals for the IIHF Council for the improvement of this championship,” said Edgars Buncis. “Questions in this team could be about the number of teams, the order of play, the timing of the championship and the tournament award process. I think we have a strong team and I’m glad I can be a part of it all.”
It should be noted that the IIHF Finance Committee also includes LHF President Aigars Kalvītis.
